Energy & Entrepreneurship City Hall

Mustafa Alsammarraie

The core elements of the project related to energy issues on the local scale as a response to it as a global issue. This core functionality is integrated with the urban fabric through social and cultural activities. The people’s first interaction with the site happens through those social and cultural activities and then they penetrate to the core functionality of the place.

The arrangements of the functions reflect this attitude by pushing the core functions behind the more publicly accessible periphery spaces as a mean to better integrate with the site and encourage people to reach inside.

On the other side, the pods carry the same function toward the park area, but now in a more temporal sense with frame structures that entangle with the trees of the park acting as urban furniture but having the possibility to be appropriated to hold social activities.

The core parts holds two distinct functions, hence their separation on the ground level and joining on the second.

The public service sector holds public service offices but more importantly a debate chamber where discussions take places with active public participation.

While the educational space has in addition to the study areas and seminar rooms, a multifunctional spaces and a workshop as a place where the first interaction between the Entrepreneurs and the public happens and the first relationship between them is formed.

Once established it is taken to the second floor where co-working spaces and meeting rooms are locates as well as office spaces. It is also possible to observe the multifunctional spaces from this level through gallery spaces.
