Contemporary Art City Hall

Kayseri is one of the biggest industrial cities in Turkey and one of the top university holding cities of high number. The pluralist city hall of contemporary art is located in the city center quite close to different important public destinations such as Forum, Kayseri Castle, Hospitals like TEKDEN, Almer, Nesibe Gevher Şifahanesi Museum, Sahabiye Medresesi, and Eski industrial zone. In addition, the location of the site is attached to a large Mimar Sinan public park which gave an advantage of the site integration and interaction with the environment. The project Idea depended on an initial problem of the city which focused on the working fields concertation.
The concertation is high in construction and industrial zones but in art entertainment and other fields were neglected almost completely. Therefore, the pluralist city hall will focus on Contemporary art field and provide facilities to interact with it like workshops and exhibitions and events like Art competitions and learn from it like in libraries or from experts in specific events. Moreover, in order to gather people together and discuss, express, debate, provide lecture, and meeting will be held in citizen’s rooms, auditorium, and conference rooms. The interaction of people with contemporary art by having semi-open areas to experience the art equipment and see the production of the workshops and discuss and express about their thought not only in terms of art but in other terms and perspectives related to city context. Contemporary Art is a method that can lead people to realize their feelings, surrounding problems, creativity, and environment. Therefore, it can open peoples’ eyes to various solutions of even irrelevant problems of life and can create their own future culture and express the thoughts through art.
The project respects the integration of environment surrounding by integrating the pedestrian accessibility axises between their destinations and and make connection between the park and locations by connecting pedestrian roads allocating the public and facilities along side the main axises of the project site.
